The Real Launch of O Nata Nox

It's done at last!! And just (barely) in time for Itch Creator's Day! If you've been waiting on this game to reach this point, I am grateful for your patience as I juggled my various responsibilities this month. I am so excited to get to share this game with you. It was part of the Apocalypse Keys Jam which is such an incredible and inspiring game. Please, please, please go check out Apocalypse Keys by Rae Nedjadi  and Evil Hat Productions  if you haven't already. It's such a fantastic game.

But let me talk about this one for just a little bit. O Nata Nox is deeply inspired by gothic literature, monsters, and obviously, Bloodborne. It's a lyric game so it's probably the most rules loose I've made yet, haha. The mechanics come down to interpreting tarot cards and answering very open-ended questions. Answering questions is an important component of a lot of games I love like Our Haunt and Thirsty Sword Lesbians, and i've become really fond of using provocative questions to build the world, to expand your understanding of the characters, and to even influence what your next action is. I really wanted to make this game very open-ended, very what you choose to do with it. That's not going to be the type of game for everyone. Some people will definitely look at this and go but where are the rules, and that's totally fine! But for the people who like to explore and roleplay, I hope you will have a good time with this, exploring the post-apocalypse of very literally, your own making. I hope you enjoy playing these monster archetypes and putting your own unique spin on them.

I'm not quite done with this game. It's done in the sense that it is playable and it is ready for consumption, but there's still a few things I hope to come back to one day. Mostly building out the character creation a little bit more in terms of backstory. Maybe going back to a String mechanic I'd had originally had and then ended up discarding.  We'll see! So many games to make and so little time!

Anyway! Happy Itch Creator Day and happy official launch of O Nata Nox! Please go check out some of the cool games out there today like the Huetopia Bundle! And if you want to check this one out too, that would be real cool of you.

All my best,
